On November 11th, 2023, the Embassy participated in the SEISA Africa-Asia Bridge Forum held at SEISA High School in Yokohama, Kanagawa. The forum was founded by Mr. Yasuo Miyazawa with the aim of fostering cultural exchange between the people of Asia and Africa.
This year marked the eighth forum of its kind and was attended by ambassadors and representatives from various African countries in Japan, the Japanese Government, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, as well as leaders of the cities of Kanagawa, Yokohama, and Ashibetsu.
The platform was established to promote understanding among young people in schools about Africa and its importance. The goal is to shape various activities that will bring the people of Africa and Asia closer. The youth, in particular, seem to have great importance in educating them about the opportunities and importance of Africa through reliable sources of information.
During the forum, SEISA High School students, in collaboration with the representatives from Africa and Asia countries, organized exhibitions showcasing various cultures of African countries including, the kanga and kitenge outfits.
The Embassy used the platform to showcase Tanzania-made products, traditional outfits like the Kanga and Masai Shuka, and played the famous "Tanzania - The Royal Tour Film", which was documented by H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania.
During the event, at the Tanzania Booth, many attendees showed a keen interest in learning more about the various captivating tourist destinations that Tanzania has to offer. They were particularly drawn to the country's diverse range of natural wonders, including its gorgeous beaches, stunning wildlife reserves, magnificent national parks, and the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro.
Moreover, many attendees were fascinated by the opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage of Tanzania by donning traditional attire. They were keen to learn about the different styles of clothing worn by Tanzanians for various occasions and the significance of each garment. Overall, the participants showed a deep interest in exploring the beauty and culture of Tanzania.
