On 17 July 2026, H.E. Ambassador Anderson Mutatembwa, Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to Japan, received a delegation from Updated Co., Ltd. at the Chancery. The delegation was led by Mr. Shuta Mano, Executive Officer, Business Department for Sustainability Transactions.

The purpose of the visit was to brief the Embassy on the current status of the company’s ongoing projects in Tanzania. The delegation highlighted its continued investment in renewable energy solutions, including the installation of solar power systems in coffee processing factories, vanilla farms, hospitals, water supply facilities, and households, as well as the promotion of clean cooking technologies through the distribution of improved cookstoves.

During the meeting, both sides acknowledged the significant contribution of these projects to strengthening the longstanding economic partnership between Tanzania and Japan. They noted that these initiatives extend beyond the framework of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), serving as a practical demonstration of the two countries’ shared commitment to sustainable development, climate action, and green investment.

The Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting Japanese companies investing in Tanzania and welcomed further collaboration with Updated Co., Ltd. in advancing renewable energy and other sustainable development initiatives. The Embassy also encouraged the company to participate in the forthcoming Tanzania Investment Mission to Japan, scheduled for September 2026, which will be held in Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, and Okinawa Prefecture. The Mission will provide an important platform for fostering business partnerships, showcasing Tanzania’s investment opportunities, and deepening economic cooperation between Tanzania and Japan.
