On 31st October 2023, the Embassy made a visit to Daisan-Hino Elementary School and delivered a presentation on Tanzania to 110 grade 4 students, along with their teachers and other school officials. The Embassy officials were warmly welcomed by Mr. Saturo Matsumoto, the School Principal, and Ms. Tamaki Okada, the NPO CMC Chief Director and Secretary General, who organized the school visit.
Mr. Matsumoto gave a detailed presentation about his school and their outreach plans in African and Asian countries. He disclosed that Daisan-Hino Elementary School is one of the top elementary schools in Tokyo, with approximately 410 enrolled students and well-known for its cultural programs, that allow students to study the cultures of other nations. Additionally, he revealed that one of the school's teachers is currently in Tanzania as a JICA volunteer in the field of education, and it is expected that upon her return, she will share and continue to provide a valuable experience to the students on what she learned in Tanzania.
In delivering a message on behalf of H.E. Ambassador Baraka Luvanda, the First Secretary Ms. Edna Dioniz Chuku, expressed gratitude to Principal Matsumoto and his staff for their hospitality and for the promotion of Tanzania at the school. She also conveyed appreciation to Ms. Okada for establishing the CMC Project, which helps Japanese students to nurture and comprehend the culture of other nations.
The CMC Project, which stands for "Children Meet Countries," is dedicated to instilling a global perspective on Japanese children, helping them understand and respect other cultures across the world. The school visit provided invaluable ideas for future exchanges between Daisan-Hino Elementary School and Tanzania, particularly in the areas of education and cultural exchange.
