On March 23rd, 2024, the Embassy and World Heritage Academy (WHA), a Japanese non-profit organization, jointly organized a cultural and tourism promotion event. This event was attended by 60 Japanese individuals and friends of Tanzania. The purpose of the event was to promote the attractions of Tanzania to the Japanese people and to provide an opportunity for them to deepen their knowledge about the country. This year's event followed on from the previous event that took place in 2013.
During this year’s event, the audience was given a presentation on the tourist attractions in Tanzania, highlighting the country's rich historical and cultural heritage, cuisine, and drinks. The event also included watching the famous “Tanzania – The Royal Tour” documentary translated into Japanese, as well as tasting Tanzanian food and drinks, wrapping the famous “kanga fabric” and “Masai shuka” to celebrate the unique culture of the Tanzanian people.
The audience had the opportunity to receive presentations from representatives of two tour operator companies: Sorongo Tour Operator and The Traveler’s Guardian Inc. These companies shared exciting and insightful experiences, which drew the attention of many participants who asked inquisitive questions.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Tadashi Suguya, Advisor of WHA, thanked the Embassy for accepting to host the event and called for continued cooperation between the Embassy and WHA. He thanked Ambassador Baraka Luvanda for his time and willingness to support the event and this partnership for mutual benefit. He assured the audience that the event would be fruitful and enjoyable for everyone.
In his remarks, His Excellency Ambassador Baraka Luvanda appreciated the long association of WHA with Tanzania for many years. He called for continued partnership and friendship in promoting Tanzania's unique culture and tourism for many years to come. He concluded by urging participants to visit Tanzania and experience for themselves what they had learned about the country at the event.
