On 13th March 2024, H.E. Ambassador Baraka Luvanda met with representatives and members of AFRECO, Clinical Engineering Global Promotion Foundation, and the NPO Forest Therapy Society. The meeting aimed to report the successful outcome of their trip to Tanzania, which led to the implementation of the newly introduced Biometric Course through the Medical Engineering School at the University of Dodoma, starting in the 2024/25 Academic Year in September 2024.
During the meeting, the team of experts expressed their full support for the Medical Engineering School, emphasizing its significance in providing technical expertise on the healthcare services in Tanzania and the entire African continent. The school would be equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities and will provide specialized treatment and learning for health personnel at Dodoma University, Benjamin Mkapa Hospital, and other hospitals and universities in Tanzania.
In attendance at the meeting were Mr. Tadayuki Kawasaki, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Clinical Engineering Global Promotion Foundation; Prof. Kiyotaka Segami, M.D., Ph.D., Audit & Supervisory Board Member, Clinical Engineering Global Promotion Foundation and the President of the NPO Forest Therapy Society; Prof. Tomotaka Naramura, C.E., Ph.D. (Director, Clinical Engineering Global Promotion Foundation); Ms. Moe Kojima, C.E. (Councilor, Clinical Engineering Global Promotion Foundation); and Ms. Kyoko Hasegawa, Secretary General of AFRECO. The medical experts provided valuable insights and recommendations on the project, essential for its success.
Ambassador Luvanda expressed gratitude for their visit and feedback on their plans to support Tanzania in establishing the Medical Engineering School at the University of Dodoma, the first of its kind in the country to provide biometric engineers. He assured them of the government's unwavering support in the implementation process.
