On 4th September 2024, the Embassy held a hybrid meeting with representatives from Konishiyasu Co., Ltd. at the Chancery. The discussion aimed to strengthen trade relations between Tanzania and Japan, with a focus on products produced in Tanzania.

During the meeting, the representatives provided an overview of their company, which engages in both domestic and international trade of inorganic and organic chemicals, resins, metals, surface treatment materials, electronic materials, gases, and environmentally friendly products. They highlighted that, although the company is based in Japan, it has branches in five Asian countries: China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.

The representatives expressed their desire to expand their business dealings in Tanzania, specifically utilizing cashew nut shells for biomass fuels, fertilizers, and animal feeds, in addition to their existing trade operations involving cashews, coffee, cocoa, and vanilla in Japan and other Asian countries. They also informed that they had initiated discussions with Sabayi Investment Company regarding the export of cashew nut shells to Japan. They requested the Embassy’s assistance in following up with Sabayi Investment Company for assurance and sought support in securing trustworthy companies for coffee, cocoa, and vanilla.

The Embassy assured them of its cooperation in their business ventures within Tanzania and provided a list of companies associated with coffee, cocoa, and vanilla in Tanzania to facilitate potential linkages.
