Today, 12 November 2025, the Embassy conducted a lecture on Tanzania for sixth-grade students at Chofu Otsuka Elementary School. The session was attended by approximately 60 participants, including students and teachers. The Embassy staff were warmly received by Mr. Takayuki TOMURA, the Vice Principal of the school, with whom they held a brief discussion on the school’s international exchange and global education initiatives.

Chofu Otsuka Elementary School, located in Chofu City, is a long-established government school founded 85 years ago. The school has approximately 350 students from grades one to six and is recognized for its active participation in international exchange and global learning programs.

The lecture introduced Tanzania’s geography, culture, wildlife, and diplomatic relations with Japan, while also highlighted  the role of the Tanzanian Embassy in promoting mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries.

The lecture formed part of the school’s global education program organized in collaboration with CMC Inc., (a Japanese NPO for international relations) which aims to help students learn about different nations and international relations.

The students actively participated throughout the session, asking questions and engaging in lively discussions that reflected their curiosity and enthusiasm about Tanzania.

After the lecture, the school expressed appreciation to the Embassy for sharing valuable insights that would enrich the students’ learning experience, particularly as they prepare for their upcoming Model United Nations activities addressing global challenges such as refugees, poverty, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
