On 12th November 2025, the Embassy, represented by Ms. Edna Dioniz Chuku, Counsellor for Economic Affairs, delivered a lecture on Tanzania to sixth-grade students at Chofu Otsuka Elementary School. The session was attended by approximately 60 participants, including students and teachers, and the Embassy team was warmly received by Mr. Takayuki Tomura, Vice Principal of the school. A brief discussion was held on the school’s international exchange and global education initiatives.

Chofu Otsuka Elementary School, a public institution established 85 years ago in Chofu City, has approximately 350 pupils from grades one to six and is well known for its active engagement in international and global learning programmes.

The lecture introduced students to Tanzania’s geography, culture, wildlife, and diplomatic relations with Japan, while also highlighting the role of the Embassy in promoting mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries. The session formed part of the school’s global education programme organized in collaboration with CMC Inc., a Japanese non-profit organization dedicated to international relations.

Students actively participated throughout the session, asking insightful questions and engaging in lively discussions that demonstrated strong interest in Tanzania. Following the lecture, the school expressed its appreciation to the Embassy for the informative presentation, noting that it would enrich the students’ learning, particularly in preparation for their upcoming Model United Nations activities focusing on global issues such as refugees, poverty, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
