H.E. Ambassador Baraka Luvanda, accompanied by Ms. Edna D. Chuku, First Secretary (Economic Affairs), participated at a valedictory ceremony to the Special Training Programme organized by JICA Kansai Center on 31st October 2022 which started on 18th October 2022 culminated with presentations of programme reports, evaluation of the programme and congratulatory and closing messages.
Speaking at the Closing Ceremony, the Director General for JICA’s African Department, Mr. Naoki Yanase who congratulated participants to the programme for their sterling performance during the programme and assured them to pass on the knowledge and experience gained to their fellow Tanzanians especially to those in decision making positions so that they can direct well the reform process.
On his part, Ambassador Luvanda whilst congratulating participants for being good listeners throughout the programme he congratulated the programme instructors under the able leadership of Mr. Michiyuki Shimoda and Professor Wataru Kitamura for their excellent performance of instilling knowledge, experience and new thinking to participants.
Ambassador Luvanda re-echoed the call on participants to pass on fellow Tanzanians the experience and knowledge gained for effective change across government. He also expressed hope for similar programs in future and wished participants safe travels back home.
The Government of Tanzania has been making serious efforts to reform the Local Government System in the Country through Local Government Reform Programme (LGRP) since 2000, with the technical assistance from the Government of Japan.
