On 31 August 2026, H.E. Ambassador Anderson Mutatembwa received a delegation from TANJA/OSTI at the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Tokyo. The delegation briefed the Ambassador on its ongoing and planned agribusiness initiatives in Tanzania and Rwanda, particularly in the production and value chains of macadamia nuts, coffee and avocados.
Discussions focused on opportunities to deepen Tanzania–Japan agricultural trade, promote value addition and facilitate greater access of high-quality Tanzanian agricultural products to the Japanese market. Particular attention was given to the company’s ambitious plans to expand avocado exports to Japan, complementing its established markets in Europe, China and India.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close cooperation, with the Embassy expressing its readiness to facilitate relevant partnerships and linkages that could support market access, investment and sustainable agricultural development. The engagement forms part of the Embassy’s broader economic diplomacy efforts to diversify Tanzania’s export markets and strengthen commercial relations with Japan.
