Ambassador Baraka Luvanda together with Prof. Lughano Kusiluka, Vice Chancellor of University of Dodoma (UDOM) and Prof. Abel Makubi, Executive Director of Benjamin Mkapa Hospital (BMH) paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Higashiue Shinichi, Chairman of Tokushukai Medical Corporation at Tokushukai Head Office in Tokyo and held a fruitful meeting.

The objective of the meeting was to further strengthening the already existing relationship between Tokushukai and the two hospitals. The meeting also discussed further steps towards the establishment of the Kidney Transplant Center at BMH, Dodoma. Dr. Shinichi reassured the two hospitals that Tokushukai has committed about 12,000,000 USD to build the Center and donate it to the Government of Tanzania.  The two hospitals jointly appreciated TMG for the  offer and assured their commitment to support the project to its successful  completion.  

Tokushukai General Incorporated Association(TGIA) formerly known as Tokushukai Medical Group has had a long association and relationship with Tanzania through the University of Dodoma since 2010. The connection between the two began in 2003 when a Tokushukai delegation visited Tanzania on observatory mission. This was followed by the visit to Japan in 2010 by Tanzanian doctors to undertake kidney transplant training at Kamakura General Hospital, an affiliate of Tokushukai.
