On August 29, 2023, the Embassy met with JICA officials in charge of Tanzania operations at the JICA Headquarters in Tokyo. The meeting introduced the new JICA team responsible for Tanzania affairs. The team of officers from JICA was led by the Director and Leader of the Tanzania team, Mr. Hitoshi Matsumoto while the Embassy was presented by Mr. Greyson Ishengoma, Counselor; Ms. Edna Dioniz Chuku, First Secretary - Economic Affairs and Mr. Hosea Chikolongo, Political and Cultural Attaché. 

The Embassy received updates on the implementation of ongoing activities in Tanzania through JICA, including new projects presented by Tanzania during TICAD 8 in August 2022 in Tunis, Tunisia; and the progress of projects being implemented, such as the rehabilitation of Kigoma Port, improvement of Zanzibar's water infrastructure, and the construction of the Arusha-Holili Road.

In addition, the Embassy received information on the preparation of the visit of the Vice President of JICA, Mr. ANDO Naoki, scheduled for September 10-16, 2023, in Tanzania. Mr. Naoki will lead the organization's delegation to the Conference on the Program for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA), organized by the African Union Commission (AUC) to be held on September 12-15, 2023, in Zanzibar.

The Embassy was grateful for the information provided by JICA and emphasized the importance of having regular meetings between embassy officials and the JICA Headquarters team in charge of Tanzania affairs, suggesting the meetings be held every six months.
