On Saturday, 4th June 2022, the Embassy in collaboration with the Flex International Co. Ltd of Japan, organized a tourism promotion event which was attended by a group of 20 Japanese prospective travelers. During the day-long event, the audience was given a presentation on the tourist attractions in Tanzania, highlighting the wealthy Tanzania historical and cultural heritage, cuisine and traditional food and drinks. The event also included the tasting of Tanzania food and drinks, the wrapping of the famous “khanga fabric” and “Masai shuka” as part of celebrating the unique culture of Tanzanian people.
In his welcome address, H.E. Ambassador Baraka H. Luvanda welcomed the participants to Tanzania House and thanked them for their time and interest to visit and to learn more about Tanzania. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the co-organizers of the event, Flex International Co. Ltd, for their work of promoting Tanzania and choosing Tanzania as their tourism destination. He described Tanzania as a country of varied landscapes and natural beauty.
Ambassador Luvanda also welcomed the Japanese to see some magnificent and unique sites of Tanzania through historic documentary titled "The Tanzania Royal Tour" filmed by H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania. He pointed out that, the film is one of the best films that reflects the culture of Tanzania and opens the doors to tourism and investment to the world. The promotion event coincided with the relaxation of travel restrictions into and out of Japan following the recent decision by the Government of Japan and it is therefore, hoped that many Japanese will be planning to travel abroad.
On his part, co-organizer of the event and the moderator, Mr. Yoshimi MATSUYAMA of Flex International Co. Ltd, thanked Ambassador Luvanda on behalf of the Flex Company for his compliments and insightful message. He pledged on behalf of his company to maintain and to strengthen the good working relationship that exists between the company and the Embassy. He expressed his desire to do another Tourism Event with more participants, in November this year.
Flex International Co. Ltd is the Japanese registered travel agency company, the member of Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) established in 1988, headquartered in Takadanobaba, Tokyo. The company has been organizing study tours and safari tours to Tanzania and other East African countries with the concept of “Gemba he iko” (Japanese words for “Let’s go to the field”) since 2014.
Due to the restrictions of COVID-19 in Japan, the company intends to organize indoor tourism promotion events in collaboration with Embassies in Tokyo to attract Japanese people to learn and know more about tourist destinations around the world.
