Today, the Embassy received two representatives from the Tokyo University of Agriculture (Tokyo NODAI), led by Professor Megumi Shio, the coordinator of the exchange program between NODAI and Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). The discussions focused on the existing joint programs between the two universities, which aim to develop the next generation of leaders capable of positively impacting food security and nutrition.
The partnership between Tokyo NODAI and SUA began in 2009 and has since benefited a number of Tanzanian scholars through various programs offered by NODAI, as well as support from the Government of Japan through JICA and MEXT initiatives. The Embassy took the opportunity to encourage Tokyo NODAI to consider launching new programs with Tanzania to deepen this valuable collaboration.
