On January 15, 2024, Embassy officials paid a visit to the Japan Manufactured Imports and Investment Promotion Organization (MIPRO) headquarters in Tokyo. The objective of the visit was to forge business connections between Tanzania and Japan. The officials were warmly welcomed by Mr. Sasaki and Mr. Akio from MIPRO.
During the visit, representatives from MIPRO provided valuable information about the various activities, initiatives, and services offered by the organization. They stated that MIPRO plays a key role in providing guidance for goods importation into Japan, as well as encouraging foreign direct investment in Japanese businesses. In addition, MIPRO offers market research, business matchmaking, and investment facilitation services, which provide several options for Tanzanian enterprises looking to access the Japanese market.
On their part, the Embassy officials actively engaged in discussions, expressing Tanzania's keen interest in attracting Japanese investment across various sectors, including manufacturing, technology, infrastructure development, and tourism. They shared information about Tanzania's investment climate and highlighted the country's strategic location, enormous natural resources, and supportive corporate policies.
MIPRO representatives commended Tanzania's potentials on both trade and investment, citing its stable political environment and continuing infrastructure development initiatives. They underscored Japan's ongoing efforts to strengthen economic cooperation with African countries, notably Tanzania. MIPRO stated their willingness to assist Tanzanian firms in forming effective partnerships with Japanese industries.
The meeting explored avenues for promoting Tanzanian exports to Japan and discussed potential market opportunities for Tanzanian products such as agricultural commodities, minerals, handicrafts, and textiles. It also provided an excellent platform for the Embassy staff to gain valuable insights into Japan's import and investment landscape.
As the meeting concluded, the Embassy staff expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and fruitful discussions.
