The SADC Group of Ambassadors in Japan hosted a luncheon reception in honor of H.E. Ambassador Baraka Luvanda, who concludes his four-year tour of duty as Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to Japan.

Speaking on behalf of the Group, the incoming Dean, H.E. the Ambassador of the Republic of Malawi to Japan, commended Ambassador Luvanda for his strong and exemplary leadership within the SADC Group. He highlighted Ambassador Luvanda’s role in promoting the SADC Development Agenda in Japan and in strengthening ties between SADC Ambassadors and other regional blocs, notably the East African Community (EAC) and the African Diplomatic Corps (ADC).

Beyond his bilateral responsibilities, Ambassador Luvanda has been an active regional voice in Japan. Serving as Dean of both the EAC and SADC Diplomatic Groups, and as Chairman of several committees within the ADC, he contributed immensely to advancing the collective agendas of the African Union (AU), EAC, and SADC. His leadership ensured that the shared priorities of these regional organizations were effectively articulated and promoted in Japan, thereby fostering mutually beneficial diplomacy and regional solidarity.
