On 3rd March 2024, Magdalena Crispin Shauri, a Tanzanian long-distance athlete participated and completed the 42km Women Marathon at the Tokyo Marathon 2024. The race involved 38,000 men, women, wheelchair men and wheelchair women most of whom are world-leading athletes and recreational runners.
In addition, they run alongside elite runners who run the Marathon in their own unique way according to their individual goals. The Embassy attended the event to cheer up Ms. Shauri who completed in thirteenth place.
The Tokyo Marathon 2024 is organized annually by Tokyo Marathon Foundation and co–organized by Japan Association of Athletics Federation (JAAF). Its course started at Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building through different avenues to Hibiya – Tokyo Station/Gyoko – Dori Avenue.
