On January 17, 2024, H.E. Ambassador Baraka Luvanda, had a meeting with Mr. Takao Seki, Senior Director for Global Strategy (Africa) of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) at JETRO Headquarters in Tokyo. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ways to strengthen trade and investment relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, Ambassador Luvanda expressed Tanzania's keen interest in expanding bilateral trade and investment with Japan. He highlighted Tanzania's favorable investment and trade climate, strategic location, and resource richness, making it an attractive destination for Japanese businesses, among other factors.

The discussions also focused on highlighting the importance of Japanese companies participating in the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) to network with industry professionals, potential clients, suppliers, and partners from domestic and international markets. Ambassador Luvanda disclosed that DITF is an annual event organized by Tan Trade in collaboration with public and private sectors each year from June 28 to July 13; and this year will mark the 48th Fair with the theme "Tanzania is your right destination for business and investment."

Mr. Seki responded positively to the Ambassador's proposals and a welcome to Japanese companies to participate in the 48th DITF. He assured Ambassador that JETRO would disseminate information about the Fair to the Japanese companies. The discussions further revolved around facilitating market entry for Tanzanian exports in Japan, encouraging Japanese companies to invest in Tanzania, and fostering partnerships that promote sustainable economic growth.

The meeting between Ambassador Luvanda and JETRO provided a foundation for deeper economic collaboration and paved the way for future joint ventures, infusing fresh vitality into the bilateral relationship; also exemplified the Government's commitment to fostering a prosperous business environment and creating win-win opportunities for both Tanzania and its international partners like JETRO.
