On 10 December 2025, H.E. Anderson Mutatembwa joined other SADC Ambassadors and Diplomats in a meeting organized by the Japan Business Federation (KEIDANREN) with the SADC Executive Secretary, H.E. Elias Magosi, at KEIDANREN Headquarters in Tokyo. The meeting focused on strengthening economic cooperation between Japan and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), with particular emphasis on trade, investment, industrial development, regional value chains, and private sector engagement.

During the meeting, H.E. Elias Magosi presented an overview of SADC’s regional integration agenda, highlighting priority sectors for cooperation with Japan, including infrastructure development, energy, agriculture, manufacturing, mining value addition, and human capital development. He underscored SADC’s commitment to improving the investment climate, enhancing policy harmonization, and promoting regional markets as a gateway for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

On its part, KEIDANREN presented Japan’s private sector perspectives on engagement with the SADC region, outlining ongoing and potential investment interests, challenges faced by Japanese companies, and opportunities for expanding business partnerships. KEIDANREN emphasized the importance of predictable regulatory frameworks, investment protection, and strengthened public–private dialogue in facilitating increased Japanese private sector participation in the SADC region.

The meeting provided an opportunity for H.E. Ambassador Mutatembwa to engage in bilateral discussions with several Japanese stakeholders, including representatives from the private sector, on potential areas of collaboration and investment opportunities in Tanzania and the wider SADC region.
