On 10th January 2024, His Excellency Ambassador Baraka Luvanda received Mr. Yuki Mito, one of the group leaders of "Waswahili no Kai" - a group of former Japanese Overseas Volunteers Cooperation (JOVC) served in Tanzania (former JOVC - Tanzania).The visit aimed at sharing the group's activities that mainly support Tanzania's small farmers and local entrepreneurs.
During the meeting, Mr. Mito informed Ambassador Luvanda about the various programs that “Waswahili no Kai” has implemented in Tanzania, which have contributed to improving the livelihoods of the local communities. He also seized the opportunity to introduce his company called "WATATU" co-founded by three former JOVC - Tanzania. He informed that WATATU assists agricultural programs in Tanzania by providing technical and financial support to small-scale farmers in Songea (maize) and Kilombero (rice).
Additionally, Mr. Mito shared the future plans of his company and Swahili no Kai group for implementation in both Tanzania and Japan. He revealed the group's dedication to supporting Tanzania's development and working closely with the country to achieve its development goals.
On his part, Ambassador Luvanda expressed his gratitude to Mr. Mito and the entire Tanzania - JOVC group for their efforts in supporting Tanzania's development. He stressed the importance of such initiatives in strengthening the existing friendly relations between Tanzania and Japan.
