On Monday, 17 April 2023, Ms. SUZUKI Takako, Member of the House of Representatives and Deputy Secretary - General of LDP paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Amb. Luvanda at the Chancery. Ms. SUZUKI was accompanied by Ms. MATSUI Mihoko, Deputy Director - Second African Division, African Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
The discussions centered on the evaluation of the TICAD initiatives and process in Africa in general, and in Tanzania in particular, for the past 30 years.
In his remarks, H.E. Amb. Luvanda reassessed the significance of the TICAD initiative based on Japan-Tanzania relations over the past three decades, outlined the implementation of various development projects in Tanzania by the Government of Japan through JICA. He stressed Tanzania's anticipated outcomes from the most recent TICAD 8 Summit in the areas of infrastructure, education, food security, and public and private sector investments.
He also, urged the Japanese investment in large-scale infrastructure projects in Africa, particularly in Tanzania (like construction of Standard Gauge Railways), as well as in Africa's private sector and other fields such agriculture, health, education and information & communication technology (ICT) which can have a greater impact on African development when done on a large-scale.
