On 17 May 2023, H.E. Ambassador Baraka Luvanda accompanied by the Embassy officials paid a courtesy visit to the One Village, One Product (OVOP) Market located at Narita Airport.
Ambassador Luvanda and his delegation were warmly welcomed by Mr. ISHIHARA Kenichi, Director -General, Overseas Business Support Center of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) who was accompanied by market executives.
OVOP Markets are managed by JETRO, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, established at major Japanese international airports, both at Narita International Airport and Kansai International Airport. Both markets function as antenna shops, supporting manufacturing, and selling products such as arts, handicrafts, and processed foods from emerging nations, including those in Africa and Asia.
At his tour, H.E. Ambassador Luvanda was delighted to get to see a variety of Tanzanian products, including, Tanzania coffee (Afri - café), Tingatinga paintings, Makonde carvings, kanga and vitenge produced in Tanzania, and cultural accessories designed from kanga and vitenge, to name a few. He promoted for the introduction of other Tanzania products like cashew nuts and honey, which he believed the Japanese would adore them.
