On November 12, 2023, H.E. Ambassador Baraka Luvanda joined other Ambassadors and Diplomats of the Commonwealth Member Countries in a remembrance ceremony to honor the memory of Commonwealth servicemen and servicewomen who lost their lives in the World Wars and other conflicts. The event was held at the Commonwealth War Cemetery in Hodogaya, Yokohama, and hosted by the New Zealand Embassy.
The event also provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on past and current conflicts, and to celebrate the historical and contemporary relationships with friends and allies of the Commonwealth. The wreath-laying ceremony allowed Ambassadors, diplomats, and other representatives from various Commonwealth countries in Japan to pay their respects to the fallen heroes.
The participation of Embassies in such occasion which held annually, not only strengthens relationships but also serves as a symbol of solidarity between Japan and Commonwealth Countries.
