Before the 8th Tokyo International Conference on African Development  (TICAD 8) Summit to be held in Tunisia on 27th - 28th August 2022, H.E. Amb. Baraka H. Luvanda received an update on the JICA projects and programs implemented in Tanzania.

The courtesy meeting was attended by Ms. Yuriko Doi and Ms. Shoko Kanazawa from the JICA Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, and the Embassy staff, Ms. Edna Chuku and Mr. Hosea Chikolongo who accompanied Ambassador Luvanda.

Since 1962, Japan has been one of the main partners in the execution of development projects in Tanzania through JICA. Tanzania is the only nation that collaborates with Japan in the three cooperation areas prioritized by Japan. JICA's support to Tanzania primarily focuses on:

i) Nurturing driving forces of economic growth;

ii) Infrastructure development conducive to economic and social development; and

iii) Improvement of Governance and the Public Service Delivery.
