On 30 March 2026, Ambassador Anderson Mutatembwa visited Soka University, where he held discussions with Vice President Professor Akio Nishiura. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen existing cooperation and explore new areas of collaboration.
Soka University, established in 1971 by Daisaku Ikeda, currently hosts over 6,000 students. The university has been teaching Swahili and, since 1991, has organized annual Swahili speech contests, significantly contributing to the global promotion of the language.
The Ambassador commended the university for its efforts in promoting Kiswahili through educational initiatives, speech competitions, participation in World Kiswahili Language Day 2025, and collaboration with the Embassy, including the SADC Lecture Series. He also proposed establishing formal academic partnerships between Soka University and Tanzanian universities, particularly in the fields of language and cultural studies. This proposal was well received, with the university expressing its readiness to collaborate.
