On December 16, 2022, the Embassy welcomed seven Tokyo University of Foreign Studies’ students who are currently enrolled in a Kiswahili language training program at TUFS University in Japan. On behalf of Ambassador Baraka H. Luvanda, Ms. Edna Chuku, First Secretary of the Embassy, welcomed the students to the Embassy.

The visit's objective was to outline their plans and initiatives for the year 2023 that related to the Swahili language and culture.
Ms. Chuku commended the students for their passion and love for the Kiswahili language and went on affirming the Embassy's cooperation and support at all times.

Ms. Chuku concluded by inviting the TUFS students to attend the International Kiswahili Day, which will take place on July 7 at the Embassy, where the Embassy will, among other things, organize a Swahili speech seminar for the participants, giving Japanese participants a chance to learn more about Swahili culture.
