On 25th April 2022, the Embassy received seven SOKA University students who are currently attending Kiswahili language training program at the University of SOKA, Japan. The students were received by Mr. Greyson Ishengoma, ChargĂ© d'affaires ad interim on behalf of the Ambassador Baraka H. Luvanda

The purpose of the visit was to thank the Embassy for participating as a judge on the 31st Soka University Swahili Speech Contest held on November 2021; and to introduce a new organizing team of the 32nd Soka University Swahili Speech Contest to be held in November 2022. 

Mr. Ishengoma congratulated the students for the excellent preparation of the 31st contest which involved participants of various categories. He added that, it is from the same organizing skills that the Embassy would like to borrow while organizing for celebration of International Kiswahili Day on 7th July at the Embassy. 

Mr. Ishengoma concluded by inviting SOKA students to participate in the International Kiswahili Day whereby the Embassy among other things will organize Swahili speech contest which will provide an opportunity to the participants to learn more about Swahili culture. The students volunteered to advertise the contest to their university and other relevant stakeholders when the time is right.
