On 2nd – 4th August 2023, the Embassy participated and promoted Tanzania’s food related products at the “CAFERES Japan 2023”, the largest trade show on the café and restaurant industries in Japan. The event was co-organized by TSO International Japan; Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; Consumer Affairs Agency; and Japan Coffee Association.
CAFERES Japan is well known as an exhibition where many food industry countries, baristas, chefs, restaurant and store managers from all over the world gather every year to disseminate new food trends and announce the latest technology.
The event served as a platform for the Embassy to promote food-related products from Tanzania by showcasing videos on the country's investment and trade opportunities on strategic food products including; cashew nuts; coffee; tea; wines; honey; fruits like avocados, pineapples, bananas, mangoes and oranges; as well as spices such as cloves, sesame, cinnamons, cardamoms and ginger; which were also on display.
Many visitors who stopped by the booth, expressed interest in Tanzania products, both currently marketed in Japan such as coffee and spices, as well as, those newly introduced, like cashew nuts and avocados. A number of them were connected with relevant Tanzania's exporters and producers.
