On 28 November 2024, H.E. Ambassador Baraka Luvanda joined other ambassadors and diplomats from Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries in Japan in a roundtable meeting with members of the Japanese KEIDANREN Business Federation.

The gathering featured over 50 KEIDANREN members and served as an excellent platform for exchanging insights on investment and business opportunities within the SADC region, in alignment with the broader objectives of SADC Vision 2050. Participants discussed the SADC Industrialization Strategy, which aims to enhance regional economic development and integration through industrial growth and innovation.

Key discussion topics included joint investment projects currently underway in the region, showcasing the potential for collaboration between SADC countries and Japanese businesses. The dialogue highlighted the importance of leveraging Japan’s technological expertise and investment capabilities to support the industrialization efforts in Southern Africa.

The meeting reinforced the commitment of SADC countries to create a favorable environment for investment and business development, with the ultimate goal of achieving sustainable economic growth in line with the SADC Vision 2050 objectives. Participants expressed optimism about the future of SADC-Japan relations and the mutual benefits that could arise from increased collaboration and investment.
