On 7th March 2026, the Embassy participated in a Tanzania Promotion Event organised by NGO TOFA, aimed at enhancing awareness and strengthening people-to-people ties between Tanzania and Japan.

The NGO has maintained a longstanding relationship with Tanzania through the implementation of various social development initiatives in the northern regions of the country, particularly in the areas of education, agriculture, and cultural exchange. These initiatives have significantly contributed to improving community livelihoods while also fostering mutual understanding and strengthening people-to-people ties between Tanzania and Japan.

The Embassy was represented by Ms. Edna Dioniz Chuku, Counsellor – Economic Affairs, who delivered a comprehensive seminar during the event. She was accompanied by Ms. Vicky Mnzava, Administrative Attaché. The seminar provided an overview of Tanzania’s economic landscape, investment opportunities, and priority sectors including agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, and blue economy.

In her presentation, Ms. Chuku highlighted Tanzania’s strategic location as a gateway to regional markets in Eastern and Southern Africa, as well as the Government’s ongoing efforts to improve the business environment and attract foreign investment. She also underscored the importance of partnerships with Japanese stakeholders in advancing sustainable development and inclusive growth.

Furthermore, the seminar showcased Tanzania’s rich cultural heritage, tourism attractions, and the country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Japan. Participants were encouraged to explore opportunities for collaboration in trade, investment, and development cooperation.

The event brought together approximately 40 participants, mainly partners and stakeholders of NGO TOFA, including individuals and organisations with an interest in Tanzania. It also provided a platform for interactive discussions, networking, and exchange of ideas on how to further deepen engagement between the two countries.

The Embassy expressed its appreciation to NGO TOFA for organizing the event and reaffirmed its commitment to continue working closely with such organizations in promoting Tanzania in Japan.
