On 11 March 2026, the Embassy delivered a seminar on Tanzania to approximately 100 Grade 4 students at Yoga Elementary School in Tokyo. The Embassy was represented by Ms. Edna Dioniz Chuku, Counsellor (Economic Affairs), and Mr. Kazuma Shirai, Senior Administrative Officer. The delegation was warmly received by Ms. Ando Yukiko, Principal of the School.
The seminar provided an interactive introduction to Tanzania, covering key aspects such as geography, culture, wildlife, tourism, and daily life. Students were introduced to iconic features of Tanzania, including national parks, Mount Kilimanjaro, and traditional customs. The session also included a question-and-answer segment, where students actively engaged by asking questions and sharing their impressions, creating a lively and educational atmosphere.
After the seminar, Ms. Chuku held discussions with Ms. Ando Yukiko on strengthening collaboration between the Embassy and the school. The discussions focused on the possibility of organizing a series of seminars and lectures for other grade levels, as well as arranging educational visits by students to the Embassy to further enhance their understanding of Tanzania, particularly given the school’s proximity to the Embassy.
Ms. Chuku welcomed the proposal and encouraged the school to also consider outreach programmes, including opportunities for students to visit Tanzania as part of educational tours or cultural exchange programmes. Such initiatives would further enrich students’ learning experiences while promoting deeper people-to-people ties and tourism between Tanzania and Japan.
