On 16 December 2025, the Embassy delivered a lecture on Tanzania at Waseda University in Tokyo. The lecture, attended by approximately 80 students undertaking African Studies, was organized as part of the SADC Lecture Series. Ms. Edna Dioniz Chuku, Embassy Counsellor for Economic Affairs, delivered the lecture on behalf of the Embassy.
During the lecture, an overview of Tanzania’s historical background, political stability, economic development, and regional integration within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) as well as the East African Community (EAC) was presented, alongside discussions on Tanzania–Japan relations and opportunities for academic, trade, and investment cooperation.
The lecture was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session that gave students an opportunity to discuss Tanzania’s historical, economic, and social aspects. The engagement strengthened people-to-people ties between Tanzania and Japan by fostering mutual understanding and encouraging academic and cultural exchange.
