On 5 August 2026, on the eve of the 81st anniversary of the Hiroshima atomic bombing, His Excellency Ambassador Anderson Mutatembwa, Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to Japan, had the privilege of meeting Ms. Keiko Ogura, a Hibakusha who survived the bombing at the age of eight while just 2.4 kilometers from the hypocenter. Her powerful testimony is a poignant reminder of the devastating human cost of nuclear weapons and the enduring importance of peace.
