On February 1, 2025, the Embassy participated in the "Africa Culture & Sports Event" held at the Yokohama City Port Opening Memorial Hall. The event was organized by the City of Yokohama and supported by Cattle Co., Ltd., attracting around 400 attendees.
The event featured two main segments. The first was a booth exhibition where the Embassy, alongside other exhibitors such as JICA Yokohama, the Japan-Africa Baseball & Softball Foundation, and Weins Toyota Kanagawa Co., Ltd., presented a variety of Tanzanian local specialties, including coffee, tea, spices, and more, as well as kanga fabric and Maasai shuka. The booth was adorned with several banners, and tourism and investment brochures were distributed to visitors. The second segment included a lecture on Tanzania followed by panel discussions. H.E. Ambassador Baraka Luvanda addressed a large audience of Yokohama residents and also held meetings with Mr. Tadahiro Saegusa, Director General of the City of Yokohama, and Mr. Sato Hirofumi, President of the Japan-Africa Friendship Yokohama City Council Members’ League. The discussions covered various topics, including on the upcoming TICAD 9, set to take place in Yokohama between August 20-22, 2025.
Through its participation in the event, the Embassy successfully strengthened the warm relationship between Yokohama City and Tanzania, while encouraging attendees to visit the destination.
