On 7th September 2024, the Embassy joined Tanzania - Japan Friendship Association members, including parliamentarians, former senators, businesses, and other distinguished guests in celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the One Book Association (OBA) and the 90th Birthday of its founder, Ms. Akiko Otsuki.
As a member of the Tanzania-Japan Friendship Association, OBA has made significant contributions in various areas, such as humanitarian aid, support for women and children, and education initiatives in Tanzania. The event reflected the remarkable achievements of the One Book Association and Ms. Otsuki's enduring legacy.
Representing H.E. Ambassador Baraka Luvanda, Ms. Edna Dioniz Chuku, Counsellor for Economic Affairs, highlighted the Association's contribution to strengthening the bond between Tanzania and Japan, especially in education and women's empowerment, and how Ms Otsuki illuminated paths to opportunity for countless children and communities, fostering hope and cultivating bright futures for them.
Over the years, OBA has been a steadfast ally to Tanzania through diverse activities, including the hosting of Coffee Hour Events featuring prominent Japanese representatives and corporations, honoring Tanzania’s richness in resources, including well-known Kilimanjaro Coffee in Japan. In the recent past, the Embassy and OBA have successfully organized coffee events at the chancery, including this one on 19th September 2024, which attracted 40 participants.
