Ambassador Baraka Luvanda participated on 11 January 2022 on a guided tour at the Port of Yokohama along with other Ambassadors from the African Diplomatic Corps in Tokyo.  The tour was organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLITT).
The visiting Ambassadors were shown around the Port and were taken through detailed operations, functions, development, management and maintenance as well as on basic policy and port plans.
In the course of the tour, they learnt about basic matters concerning environmental conservation, measures to ensure cooperation among ports and harbours, effective use of ports through public-private collaboration and basic matters encouraging operation of ports and harbours utilizing the know-how of the private sector.
Overall, the visit has met the expectations of the Envoys and has generated interest for similar engagements in future as well as further collaboration with respective countries.
Yokohama port is one of the Japanese representative comprehensive ports used for both commercial and logistical functions.  It has a total port area of 10,197,3 ha.
