On 18th May 2022, Ambassador Baraka H. Luvanda attended the 10th anniversary online event which was jointly organized by Baraka Co. Ltd and Sugiyama Jogakuen Elementary School.

Each year Mr. and Mrs. Shimaoka of Baraka Co. Ltd based in Zanzibar, Tanzania with one Tingatinga painter visit the school and conduct Tingatinga workshop in order to promote Tanzanian cultural heritage and strengthen the relationship between Tanzania and Japan through cultural exchanges.

During this year's event, Tingatinga paintings and books on Tanzania were donated to the school from the company. The event was opened by the Principal of the School and was followed by the introduction and presentations about Tanzania done by the students themselves. In addition, students (4th grade) had the chance to present their own paintings that they drew as part of learning and understanding the country.

In his message, Ambassador Luvanda congratulated the company for excellent work during the past 10 years and expressed his gratitude to both the organizers of the event for bringing the good image of Tanzania to the people of Japan. He also appreciated the generous donation of books about Tanzania from Baraka company which will not only promote Tanzania’s products and culture, but also will inspire the Japanese community, including the students at the Sugiyama Elementary School to learn more about Tanzania.

In his words, the exchange event not only links the young children from this school with Tanzania through colorful paintings painted in the Tingatinga workshop in Tanzania, but also encourages them to love the art that has great benefits for their studies and future career. “This enables them to showcase and use their talents and skills while they are still young. It is therefore very wise and commendable for the school to bring about this exchange event”, Ambassador Luvanda said.
