Stewart Nyakotyo, Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe and Chair of the SADC Committee in Japan, and H.E. Takahashi Misako, Assistant Minister and Director-General of the African Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Japan, at the MOFA Headquarters in Tokyo.

The meeting provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on priority areas of cooperation between the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and Japan, with particular emphasis on economic partnership, trade, investment, industrialization, digital transformation, infrastructure development, and human capital development.

Among the key outcomes of the discussions was a proposal to establish a SADC–Japan Business Forum, envisioned as a platform to strengthen business-to-business engagement, promote investment opportunities, and deepen economic ties between Japan and the SADC region.
